Senses:
(1561–1647) Korean monk of the mid-Joseon dynasty. Also known as Gohan 孤閑 or Doin 道人. In 1572, at age 12 he went to Unjusa 雲住寺 in Chilbosan 七寶山 and entered the saṃgha. He stayed at Unjusa for 18 years and studied the sutras and the Vinaya. He discontinued his study of Buddhist texts to study Seon 禪 under Buhyu Seonsu (浮休
善修; 1543–1615). He stayed with Seonsu for 3 years and investigated the meaning of
'the perfect and interfused nature of the Dharma'
法性圓融. He was particularly renowned for his modesty. In 1642 he resided at Palgongsan, but he moved shortly after to a hut he built in Gayasan. In 1646 he went to Songnisan with Byeog-am Gakseong (碧巖
覺性; 1575–1660) and passed away the next year on November 22nd at the age of 87. [Juhn Ahn]
