Basic Meaning: inductive causes

Senses:

  • One of the ten kinds of causes 十因 described in the Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra; one of the seven afflictions 七雜染 of the Madhyânta-vibhāga. Refers to the fact that good and evil actions induce related causes in the experiential world (Skt. sarvatraga-hetu, ākṣepa-hetu, ākṣepako hetuḥ). 〔瑜伽論 T 1579.30.501b〕 Keith: "Omnipresent causes, like false views which affect every act" 牽道八道.
