Basic Meaning: Genkai
Senses:
(n.d.). A Japanese monk of the Sōtō school 曹洞宗 of Zen. He was a dharma heir of Genshi 玄趾 (1690–1764). His pseudonym was Gimoku 宜默. He served as the abbot of Zuiryūji 瑞龍寺 in Kii 紀伊 (Wakayama 和歌山 prefecture). He began compiling the Tōzanghonzenji goroku 洞山悟本禪師語錄 in 1738 and published it the following year. In 1740 he completed the Sōzandaishi goroku 曹山大師語錄. In 1741, he compiled Zenrin sōwara 禪林甑瓦, and wrote a line-by-line commentary on Dokuan Genkōʼs 獨菴玄光 (1630–1698) Common Talks 俗談 chapter of the Gohōshū 護法集, titled Seiyōgenmogo 靑鷂原夢語.
