Basic Meaning: stewards give greetings
Senses:
The six stewards 六知事 of a Chan/Seon/Zen temple 禪林 to visit the abbot of the monastery 堂頭 to give words of greeting 人事 and an offering of incense. This is usually performed on the first day of the first month and the fifteenth day of the second, fifth, eighth, and eleventh months.
