  • In Japan, this term specifically refers to praying for the longevity and good health of the emperor on his birthday 聖節. In the Chanyuan qinggui 禪苑淸規, it is recorded that a certificate was handed out to those who performed this prayer. the Xiaoding qinggui 校定淸規 prescribes the performance of this prayer on the first and fifteenth day of each month.
