  • During the Song, this term came to refer to the 'Chan tradition' as a whole, especially in the titles of works that collected the biographies or sayings of Chan masters 禪師　(members of the Chan lineage 禪宗); e.g. Chanlin sengbao zhuan 禪林僧寶傳, Chanlin leiju 禪林類聚, etc. [Griffith Foulk]
