Basic Meaning: Chanlin baoxun bishuo
Senses:
Three fascicles. A commentary on the Chanlin baoxun 禪林寶訓, compiled by Zhixiang 智祥 (1637–1709) and published in 1706. Throughout his more than forty year monastic career, Zhixiang prized the Chanlin baoxun as a text that teaches self-restraint. That is, a book one should live by, rather than a theoretical treatise. In his later years, however, in response to a request by literati, Zhixiang compiled this work, which elucidates the main points of the text. [Erez Joskovich; source(s): ZGDJT]
