Basic Meaning: Chanlin baoxun shunzhu
Senses:
Four fascicles, published in 1683. A commentary on the Chanlin baoxun 禪林寶訓, compiled by Deyu 德玉 (1628–1701) during the Qing dynasty 淸代. Initially, Deyu attempted to instruct the assembly of Qixiasi 棲霞寺 (Henan 河南 Province) by challenging the monks to clarify the meaning of the Chanlin baoxun by themselves. However, when he had realized that this is too much of a challenge, he decided to write a commentary. Deyu provides a short biography of the people mentioned in the Chanlin baoxun, as well as straightforward explanations, which clarify the main points of the work.
