9 fasc.; abbreviated as 百因緣集. A setsuwa 說話 collection compiled by Gukan Jûshin 愚勸住信 in the first year of Shōka 正嘉, 1257. Volumes 1 through 4 contain stories from India, 5 and 6 from China, and 7 through 9 from Japan. According to its introduction and epilogue, he collected and recounted various stories so that ordinary people like himself would understand causes and conditions of things, which he considers the way of enlightenment in the Latter Dharma. According to epilogue, he compiled this collection at the age of 48 in tribute to the 48 vows of Amitâbha Buddha. Also the selection of entries clearly insinuates authorʼs affiliation with Pure Land Buddhism, especially with Hōnenʼs lineage. Contained in Dai Nihon bukkyō zensho 大日本佛教全書 vol. 148. [cnakano]
