Basic Meaning: Stūpamahāśrī
Senses:
Also Ārya-stūpamahāśrī. A figure in the Court of the Lotus Division 蓮華部院 in the Garbhadhātu maṇḍala 胎藏界曼荼羅. Also 大吉祥菩薩, 窣堵波大吉祥菩薩, 薩埵大吉祥, 帶塔德菩薩, 戴塔吉祥菩薩, and 戴塔吉祥. His skin color is white and he sits on a red lotus. His two hands are placed at chest level, each holding lotuses. The Darijing shu 大日經疏 (T 1796; fasc. 6) states a stūpa 窣堵波 is to be placed atop his uṣṇīṣa 頂髻 or atop the lotuses he holds, but these are not depicted in the Japanese Genzu mandara 現圖曼荼羅. Seed syllable: sa. Mudrā: lotus añjali 蓮華合掌. Mantra: oṃ āryastūpamahāśri svāhā. He is also associated with Maitreya 彌勒菩薩. References:
