Basic Meaning: ninth ground
Senses:
Ninth stage. The ninth of the ten bodhisattva grounds 十地. The
'stage of wondrous wisdom'
善慧地 (Skt. sādhumatī). The stage of using the skill of wisdom contemplation to enter the path of clear cognition regarding the unborn nature of all existence. In the Madhyânta-vibhāga, this is associated with the stage of unhindered articulation of the teachings 善說法 (Skt. nava-bhūmi, navamī; Tib. sa dgu pa). The ninth stage of the Tiantai Shared Teaching is called the stage of the bodhisattva 菩薩地, characterized as a stage wherein the bodhisattva chooses to reborn utilizing unspent karmic impressions 扶習潤生, and teaches others while continuing in developing his own contemplations 道觀雙流.
