Basic Meaning: fourth level of meditation

Senses:

  • The fourth dhyāna, fourth concentration: a level of meditative focus wherein the mind becomes indifferent to pleasure and pain. Also the last eight rūpa heavens. Also translated 第四靜慮, and described as the apex of concentration 邊際定 and the divine abode 天住.
