(Skt. Yaśovatī, Go-pā) [Charles Muller; source(s): Ui, JEBD, Soothill, Hirakawa]
A figure in the Court of the Lotus Division 蓮華部院 in the Garbhadhātu maṇḍala 胎藏界曼荼羅. Also called 持名稱者. Depicted as an ornamented goddess, pure gold in color 眞金色. Seated on a red lotus, her left knee is raised. Her right hand is in the wish-granting mudrā 與願印 while her left hand holds a leafy branch, which is identified as a priyaṅgu 鉢胤遇 (said to blossom when touched by a lady). The commentary Darijing shu 大日經疏 (T 1796; fasc. 5) states this flower is produced in the Western Land 西方 (Sukhāvatī). Mahāsthāmaprāpta Bodhisattva 大勢至菩薩 is said to preside over the seeds of bodhicitta placed in beings, but Yaśodharā presides over the incubation and production of these various merits. The commentary states right hand holds a branch of white flowers in various stages of blossoming. Seed syllable: ya. Mudrā: 內五鈷印. Mantra: namaḥ samantabuddhānāṃ yaṃ yaśodharāyai svāhā.
