Basic Meaning: superior understanding by applying mental attention to correspondences
Senses:
(Skt. adhimukti-manaskāratva). One of the three types of meditation mentioned in the Abhidharmakośa-bhāṣya and the Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra. Mental intention 作意 (manasi-kāratva) refers to the mental function of alertness. According to the seventh fascicle of the Abhidharmakośa-bhāṣya, any meditation on impurity, the four immeasurables, the liberation of form, the base of overcoming, and contemplation of characteristic of phenomena is called superior understanding by applying mental attention to correspondences.
