Basic Meaning: producing causes; main causes
Senses:
The most direct, propelling types of causes in the production of phenomena. In the context of the Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra, usually a reference to the seeds in the ālayavijñāna. Also written as 生因. One of the two kinds of causation 二因 (Skt. janako , janaka-hetu, janana-hetu, janma-hetutva, kāraṇa-hetutva; Tib. etu' bskyed pa'i rgyu).
