Basic Meaning: naturally disappearing
Senses:
Automatically extinct; vanishing by nature; spontaneously ceasing (Skt. svarasa-nirodha, svayaṃ vinaṣṭāḥ; Tib. rang gi ngang gis 'jig pa, rang nyid 'jig pa (Pradhan 1967, 163; D 4090: vol. 140, folio/line 167b.3–167b.4).This is a term, found in the auto-commentary to the second verse of chapter four of Vasubandhuʼs 世親 Abhidharmakośabhāṣya 倶舍論, meant to indicate that dharmas spontaneously cease, independently of external causal factors. According to Vasubandhu, this is because of the fact that the very nature of the dharma is momentary 刹那滅.
