Basic Meaning: *Śāriputrâbhidharma
Senses:
The Shelifu apitanlun. 30 fasc.; T 1548. Var. 阿毘曇論, 舍利弗阿毘曇, 舍利弗毘曇, 身子毘曇. Translated by *Dharmayaśas 曇摩耶舍 and *Dharmagupta 曇摩崛多 in 414. Contains doctrines of the Sarvâstivāda, Vātsīputrīya, Mahāsāṃghika, and Sthaviravāda, but also some material that contradicts doctrines of those schools. Scholars have not been able to agree on its provenance, sectarian affiliation or date of composition. In content, it seems to represent a halfway point between Abhidharma as transmitted by the Southern and Northern traditions, which has led some to suggest its core may be relatively early. Mizuno Kōgen 水野弘元 has published on this text: “Sharihotsu Abidon ron ni tsuite 舍利弗阿毘曇論について ,” in Nakamura hakase koki kinen ronshū 中村博士古稀記念論集 (Heirakuji shoten, 1966). (Skt. Śāriputrâbhidharma-śāstra)
