Basic Meaning: aggregate of form

Senses:

  • Constituent of matter; cluster of material existence. The physical aspect of human beings and the world. One of the five aggregates 五蘊. It refers to material existence as opposed to the mental functions represented by the other four aggregates. In the Abhidharmakośa this category consists of the eleven components of the five sense organs, their five objects and unmanifest form.
