Basic Meaning: Sutra of Meditating on Samantabhadra Bodhisattva
Senses:
Guan puxian pusa xingfa jing, 1 fasc. K 380, T 277.10.389–394. Translation by Dharmamitra 曇摩蜜多 during the years of Yuanjia 元嘉, Liu Song dynasty 劉宋 (CE 424–442. ) in Daochang Monastery 道場寺, Yangzhou 楊州. Believed to have been preached three months before the demise of the Buddha. The Buddha teaches how to meditate on Samantabhadra and also how to repent the unwholesome behaviors resulting from the actions of the six organs 六根. Since this sutra is a continuation of the Puxian Pusa quanfa pin 普賢菩薩勸發品 of the Lotus Sutra, Tiantai regarded it as the
'closing'
part of the of the Lotus 結經. Commonly known by the short title of 普賢觀經, as well as 出塵功德經, 觀普賢經, 普賢經 and 觀經. Nanjō 394; Ono. 2:178c. Translated in the BDK Series with the title The Sutra On All-Embracing
Goodness Bodhisattva, by Tsugunari Kubō and Joseph M. Logan.[European Language Translations]
