Basic Meaning: the power of the knowledge of the gamut of paths pursued (leading into and out of cyclic existence) and their outcomes
Senses:
One of the ten powers 十力. Syn. 遍處行智力. The Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra offers a few different ways to interpret this term, including - knowledge of the various predilections of practitioners in terms of sharpness or dullness of spiritual faculties; for example in difference in inclination for śrāvakahood 聲聞性, bodhisattvahood 菩薩性, etc.
- knowledge of the courses of sentient beings as they transmigrate through the five destinies 五趣, etc.
- knowledge of the various paths that people follow in this worldly life 黨類, such as the courses of brahmans 婆羅門, śramaṇas 沙門, non-Buddhist practitioners 外道, etc.
