  • (d. 825) Doui studied Chan 禪宗 in the Tang under Zhizang 智藏 (735–814) and Baizhang 百丈 (749–814), later returning to Silla and becoming one of the earliest teachers of Seon in Korea. He was known for his trenchant critiques of book-oriented Buddhist study. 〔六祖壇經 T 2008.48.360c7〕 [Charles Muller]
