Basic Meaning: Commentaries of Five Masters on the Diamond Sutra

Senses:

  • By Gihwa 己和. This work includes the commentaries by:
    1. Zongmi 宗密; the Jingang jing shoulun zuanyao 金剛經疏論纂要.
    2. Huineng 慧能 the Jingang jing jieyi 金剛經解義.
    3. Shuanglin fu 雙林傅, the Liangzhao fu dashi song jingang jing 梁朝傅大師頌金剛經.
    4. Yefu Daochuan 冶父道川.
    5. Yuzhang Zongjing 豫章宗鏡.

    Interwoven with these commentaries and the text of the sutra itself is Gihwaʼs own sub-commentary. Gihwa also writes a substantial introduction to this piece, in which he makes powerful argument for a balanced approach to religious practice, including both sitting meditation and scriptural study . (HBJ7.10–107) .
