Basic Meaning: Eight Awarenesses of Anuruddha Sutra

Senses:

  • The Analǜbanian jing. 1 fasc., K 686, T 46. Translation by Zhiyao 支曜, 2nd year of Zhongping 中平 of Lingdi(Ling Emperor) 靈帝, Latter Han dynasty 後漢 (185) in Yangdu 楊都.1 Nanjō 563; Ono. 1:18b. Also called Banian jing 八念經 and Chanxing jianyi jing 禪行檢意經. This text is discusses eight awarenesses of great persons 八大人念 and four meditations 四禪. The eight awarenesses of great persons are being contented with few desires 少欲, being satisfied 知足, solitude(far from the crowds) 隱處, vigilance 精進, regulation of thoughts 制心, concentration 定意, wisdom 智慧 and abandoning home 捨家. If one maintains the practice of the four meditations, he will reach nirvāṇa. Original Pāli text: AN.8.30. Anuruddha-sutta.
