Basic Meaning: intellectual ability of memory
Senses:
The cognitive ability to maintain mindfulness (memory) of past events. One of the forms of the bodhisattvaʼs subsequent nondiscriminating cognition 後得無分別智. The Mahāyāna-saṃgraha-bhāṣya says:
"There are five kinds of subsequently-attained nondiscriminating cognition: superknowledges 通達, remembrance 隨念, positing 安立, combining 和合, as one wishes 如意, based on which one critically analyzes distinctions."
