Basic Meaning: apart from the four lemmas
Senses:
Removed from the four arguments. The absolute truth is actually far beyond the limits of the four lemmas 四句, the hundred negations 百非, and all other forms of conceptual argumentation. In the Chan school 禪宗 we can see the phrase 「離四句絕百非」. The four lemmas and the hundred negations 四句百非 represent the argumentation of the Three Treatise school 三論宗 (Madhyamaka), and Chan rejects this. See 四句百非 (Skt. *cātuṣkoṭika-varjita).
