Basic Meaning: stage of separation from desires

Senses:

  • The sixth of the ten stages 十地 common to all three vehicles; the stage at which one is separated from the realm of desire by severing all nine classes of deliberative mental disturbances in the desire realm. This is equivalent to the third realization of the śrāvaka path (nonreturner) in the Tripiṭaka Teaching (Skt. vairāgya-bhūmi, vītarāga-bhūmi; Tib.
