Basic Meaning: Nandanavana Garden
Senses:
A garden in ancient Śrī Lanka, near the south gate of the city of Anurādhapura 阿㝹羅陀國. The stūpa here was said to be built by the monk Mahinda 摩哂陀 to house relics of the Buddha 佛舍利 given to the monk Sumanā 修摩那 by Indra 帝釋. Furthermore, Mahindaʼs younger sister, the nun Saṃghamitra 僧伽蜜多, is said to have brought a Bodhi Tree 菩提樹 there.
