Basic Meaning: good [roots] serving as causes conducive to liberation
Senses:
According to the Mahāvibhāṣā, the good roots serving as causes conducive to liberation refers to the seeds of the determination to achieve liberation 種決定解脫種子. These seeds stand for the variegated capacities inherent in the spiritual faculties, the skillful exercise of which is determined to bring about nirvana (Foguang 5351; Zhu 1108) (Skt. mokṣa-bhāgīyaṃ kuśala-mūlam)
