默翁宗淵

Senses:

  • (1590–1648)A Japanese monk of the Rinzai school 臨濟宗, born in Hishū, Kyūshū. He joined the monkhood at a young age and inherited the dharma of Ryūgaku Sōryū 龍嶽宗劉 (1557–1628). In 1642 he took up residence at Daitokuji 大德寺 and later resided at Shōunji 祥雲寺. He passed away on the twenty-third day of the fourth month at the age of fifty-nine.
