Basic Meaning: discarding the five kinds of obscuration
Senses:
The third category of the twenty-five means 二十五方便 or preparations for contemplation: rejecting the impediments to enlightenment of greed 貪欲, anger 瞋恚, lethargy 睡眠, shame 掉悔, and doubt 疑. These are the 五蓋. The entry in the Fo Guang Dictionary goes into detail.
