four data-fields
- Also written 四微. A reference to the data-fields of form 色塵, odor 香塵, taste 味塵, and tactile sensation 觸塵. Chen is an earlier Abhidharma/Yogâcāra translation for the Sanskrit viṣaya (or artha), which would be rendered by Xuanzang as 境. The usage of the logograph 塵 was intended to reflect the defiling character of these objects. (Skt. catvāry artha, bhautika, bhūtika). See also 六塵. 〔大毘婆沙論, 成實論〕 [resp. Charles Muller; source(s): Nakamura, Hirakawa]
- A reference to the four elements of the tactile field 四大. 〔無量壽經宗要 T 1747.37.127a25〕 [resp. Charles Muller]
