*Mahāmegha-sūtra
- The Dafangdeng wuxiang jing (Tib. Sprin chen-po). 6 fasc., K 164, T 387. Translation by Dharmakṣema
曇無讖: between the 3rd and 10th years of Xuanshi 玄始, Northern Liang dynasty 北涼 (CE 414–421).T.2151–360:24; Nanjō 241; Ono. 7:486; To; 232; Ōtani 898. Composed in thirty-seven chapters, but since all the chapter headings include the words Great Cloud, Part One there is reason to believe that it may actually be just the first part of a larger text. Contains a discussion of the four virtues of constancy 常, bliss 樂, self-stability 我, and purity 淨 as the peerless inconceivable attributes of the Tathāgata, and thus is considered to be doctrinally related to the Nirvāṇa-sūtra 涅槃經. Also known by the titles 方等大雲經, 大方等大雲經, 方等無相大雲經, 大雲無相經, 大雲密藏經, 方等大雲無想經, 大方等無想大雲經, 無想經, and 大雲經. A detailed summary of this text in English, with portions translated, is given as Appendix A of:
Forte, Antonino. Political Propaganda and Ideology in China at the End of the Seventh Century: Inquiry into the Nature, Authors and Function of the Dunhuang Document S.6502, Followed by an Annotated Translation. Second Edition. Kyoto: Scuola Italiana di Studi sull'Asia Orientale, 2005 [1976], pp. 333–349. Forte also studies in detail the ideological use of the text as a propaganda document under Empress Wu Zetian 武則天 of Zhou interregnum that interrupted the Tang, along with a commentary upon it preserved in Dunhuang.
