"Deluded consciousness"  (wangshi  妄識) Cs a term commonly seen in discourse related to the Awakening of Mahāyāna Faith, a general term referring to the mind that has moved from the original condition of thusness. This is correlated to the Yogâcāra notion of the mind as influenced by the belief in the inherent reality of objects (dharma-grāha), or in the belief of the reality of the self (ātma-grāha), and thus is usually a reference to the sixth (mano) consciousness, or the seventh (manas)—or both taken together. 〔大乘起信論義疏 T 1843.44.191b6 [resp.
