- Miaokong (1826–1880). Qing period Buddhist monk from Jiangsu, known by the nickname "Scripture Engraver" 刻經僧. Originally a Confucian scholar he entered the Buddhist order at the age of 41. He is known for his work of gathering, collating, and publishing various fragments of the Buddhist canon that had become lost during periods of disorder.
