- One of the two categories of precepts 二戒. Admonitions regarding the category of actions that can be considered as crimes regardless of the degree of one's participation in Buddhist practice—whether one is a novice, monk, nun, layperson, etc. This includes such basic harmful activities as killing 殺生, stealing 偸盜, debauchery 邪淫, and lying 妄語—which are also the four pārājikas 四波羅夷 (Skt. prakṛti-śīla).
