Layman Pang
- (740–803) Properly named Pangyun 龐蘊. A layman famous for his accomplishments in the practice of Chan Buddhism, who is said to have thrown all of his possessions into a river. He was a student of Mazu 馬祖 and Shidou 石頭, said to have attained enlightenment. He appears in the Biyan lu 碧巖錄, case 42. There is also a record of his sayings, the Pang jushi yulu 龐居士語錄, in the Zokuzōkyō 2.25.1. Translated into English in Sasaki (1992). 〔宗鏡錄 T 2016.48.429c23〕
